Clear Vision with Visian ICLsVisian intraocular collamer lenses (ICLs) are similar to IOLs that are implanted in the eye during cataract surgery. However, ICLs are placed in eyes that retain their natural lenses, while in cataract surgery IOLs replace the eyes’ natural lenses that have become cloudy. Due to this reason, Visian ICLs are sometimes referred to as “permanent contacts.” They become part of the patient’s eye, correcting its shape and thus providing clear vision. After implantation, Visian ICLs do not require any special care, and patients do not feel them in the eyes. Other people are not able to tell that someone has had Visian ICLs as these implants are invisible to the naked eye. Dr. Lippman offers Visian ICLs for patients who desire to achieve freedom from glasses but do not qualify for LASIK in Westchester County due to extreme myopia. Unlike LASIK, Visian ICLs can correct not only mild and moderate but also severe nearsightedness in the range of -20.00 diopters. Currently, Visian ICLs have received FDA approval only for correction of myopia in patients older than 21. For patients who want correction for both near and distance vision, Dr. Lippman offers implantation of multifocal lenses or accommodating Crystalens in Westchester County. If you are interested in learning more about Visian ICLs and how they can help you achieve clear vision without glasses, please use our contact page to schedule a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Lippman.
